Hello all, I am wondering if anyone knows what tools Ferrari used in the 50s and 60s? I have a beautiful set of tools in a suede pouch and the wrenches are all Stubai Austria. They are all metric. The tools are very nice quality and i found one mention that Ferrari may have used them. I suppose this set could have been from a Euro motorcycle of that era. I appreciate any information or clues that anyone has. Stubai still exists but makes ice climbing tools and carving chisels. Many Thanks, PS |

Too broad. Without pics this is difficult to comment. There are some sets on ebay seen from time to time, but generally, each car even the same model for early ages, were not the same. Here are some pics of the tool kit. I am curious though to know if Ferrari ever used Stubai Austria tools. Many thanks, PS

I am not an expert in these matters but that does not look like a set belonging to a Ferrari to me. If it did come with a Ferrari, then it must have been the early days before they designed proper tool bags. Even then, it seems unlikely. But as I said, I'm not an expert. What I do know is that it looks nothing like my 1967 toolbag. Onno |

I believe most wrenches in standard Ferrari tool kits in the 1960s (if the word "standard" can even be applied) are either "Gedore" or "Everest." I've never seen a "Stubai" wrench as part of a Ferrari-supplied tool kit. If you adhere to what is provided on the tool kit page in the Parts Manual for your car, you should be ok. The tool kits for the 1950s Ferraris w/ Lampredi motors were provided in wood boxes w/ very special hybrid tools for, among other things, depressing the mousetrap-style valve springs; I'll try to get a picture. Disclaimer is that I am by no means an expert on this issue. Last edited by bryanp; 11-26-2009 at 04:43 AM. |

Those tools look awesome! I'm not sure the paint can opener belongs with the set, but if it does, what hubcaps would it take off? Anyone know what it's for? What are the rods for? Suede pouch, amazing set of tools...nice collectable! _________________________ |
