Default Buying a Ferrari out of state

How do I go about buying a Ferrari out of state? For example, I live in California and a car I want to buy is in Florida.

Also, are there large fees for transporting the vehicle here?

Is the car at an authorized Ferrari dealership? If so, you could have your local Ferrari dealer arrange the inspection, shipping, etc. If not, and you don't want to fly to oversee the purchase yourself, you'll need to find someone you trust to inspect the car. If you buy from any dealer, you'll probably end up wiring your money into escrow (if the car is a consignment) while the dealer handles the paperwork. I have no experience buying directly from an individual in a different state.

As for shipping, I once had a used BMW shipped from Florida to Seattle. It cost me $1000, with insurance in an uncovered transport. Obviously, you'll want much better coverage and protection for your Ferrari, so $3K wouldn't surprise me. I used DAS but I don't think I'd use them for a Ferrari. Perhaps someone on this forum has a recommendation?

Intercity is a sponsor here and has a good reputation. Recommend you check them out.

I'm guessing $1K is no longer a valid price. Mine was $2k from San Antonio TX to CT via Reliable in 2007.

Default Buying an out of state Ferrari

I just bought a 360 form Portland, Oregon last December. I live in Northern California. I used Sierra Mountain Express and it cost $1100.00 for enclosed transport. Please read my post about out of state registration. DMV will try to stick you with a $3,000.00 luxury tax unless you speak up.

jasonextreme,

We will be glad to give you a price on your Ferrari from FL to CA. Can you please let us know which cities it picks up from and delivers too?

Thanks,
Jim

I'm in the process of buying a 360 in AZ and having it shipped to PA. I've received quotes from $1250-1800 for enclosed trailer transport.
